It’s that time of year when crudely carved pumpkins rot in their doorways. The mythical THEY force us to wake up earlier (yuck!), and the wind dons its icy cloak – wait, who am I kidding? That’s what it’s like ALL the time in San Francisco...anyhoo, most importantly our little-film-that-could is nearing the end of the ROUGH CUT! This is a huge milestone people. Huge I tell ya! And in honor of getting through the Rough Cut phase, here is a cute picture of the new ACE kitten - SMUDGE PUDGE RISHI PISHI the 1st!

Join us in welcoming our new TEAM members!

Welcome Sarah Malik, Lorenzo dela Cruz and Ilias Kyriakidis...

I leave you with the freshest of the fresh frames from the Act III climax, made by Cocoa our supremely talented animator — Nuff said!

Sarah Malik

Editor

Sarah joins us from the sunny land of Los Angeles. She earned an MFA in New Genres from UCLA in 2017, and often uses narrative as a springboard for whatever forms the work wants to take. Her experimental approach to art and art communities resonates deeply with the storytelling of Bill and Ace Junkyard, and she is thrilled to help chronicle this unique moment in time and space with this film. She has been working with us on and off for the past year, and will be giving the Rough Cut a special “Sarah” touch in preparation for our screenings.

Lorenzo dela Cruz

Post-Production Intern

Lorenzo is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying Film and Media with a secondary concentration in Design Innovation.

"I'm so fortunate and excited to be a part of such an impactful project central to the creative space of the Bay Area. Being a part of the Ace in the Hole team combines my interests as a "self-branded creative" to collaborate and learn from meaningful projects that echo through small communities, causing a ripple effect throughout the larger macrocosm of the art space."

Ilias Kyriakidis

Post-Production Intern

Ilias grew up in Cyprus and Greece, he graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Philosophy and currently works in media.

“Bill’s quirky and welcoming personality, as well as, his immense impact on the underground artist community made me want to be a part of this project. I am beyond lucky to work with the Ace team because I’ve had the opportunity to get insight into the various stages of the documentary filmmaking process and I look forward to using what I have learned in my future work.”

🎵 Were are we now? 🎵

This past October, Yasi presented some clips from the Rough Cut, and spoke about the post-production process at the Gray Area Incubator Artist Salon. The presentation was well received, and folx especially loved the clips on SRL, Bill the Junkyard Fairy, the wonders of Obtainium, and Belinda the fabulous creature of the night.

We will also be hosting a few small virtual and in-person feedback sessions later this month, to get some fresh eyes on the prize, and help fill in some blanks. The sessions will include some very nerdy technical filmspeak, not safe for general consumption! Essentially, other filmmakers, editors, and a few historical figures will be in attendance. If all goes well, we will be starting the FINE CUT in January!!

Consider making a contribution to our project today to keep us moving towards Fine Cut!

We appreciate all the help you can give as we near the end of the year and move into our Fine Cut phase. If you are interested in the exciting opportunity for an Executive Producer credit, please reach out to us directly. It has indeed been a long and arduous road, but the turtle will win this race. Thank you for your support in making the magic happen. We wish you the best as you gather with your loved ones this month.
