We are in it to win it people!

We are deep in the rough cut phase, assembling stories about our San Francisco art making community. Every scene is fueled by the largesse of Bill the junkyard fairy and all the bits of obtainium we found in the yard. So far weโ€™ve got an SRL scene thatโ€™s awesome and ridiculous, working through the slog of the Power Tool Drag Race footage, a sweet scene on Harrodโ€™s art cars, and some profiles on artists that frequented the yard like Karen Cusolito, Kal Spelletich, Rebecca Anders, and many moreโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s been a meticulous process to put all this together in a coherent and balanced way, and I think weโ€™re doing a great job at accomplishing that. Our original plan was to have a rough cut done by the end of August, but the reality is that we havenโ€™t been able to stick to this schedule mainly because we are running low on funds. Weโ€™ve had to downsize our team and hence ratchet down our momentum, so itโ€™s taking longer to get the rough cut finished.

Despite these hiccups weโ€™ve made some incredible progress! Recently, Yasi and Dana (our lead editor) had two weeks of dedicated editorial time to get the film in great structural shape. Weโ€™ve now started to finesse specific scenes, add in music, b-roll and animation frames. We even had a pick-up shoot with Mr. Junkman himself โ€” check out some exclusive behind the scene imagesโ€ฆ

Currently, we're in the middle of another week-long sprint continuing our work, and are pleased to say that weโ€™re well on our way to a rough cut screening this fall/autumn. As summer comes to an end, and our friends celebrate the last of the sun's rays deep in that thing in the desert, weโ€™re asking for your help to get us over the last hump of our filmโ€™s edit.

Consider making a contribution to our project today!

Whether you can donate $50 or are interested in making a larger donation for an executive producer credit, we appreciate all the help you can give. We are also eager to hear about any resources or organizations you know of that would be keen in partnering with us or being a sponsor of the film.

Weโ€™re so grateful for the opportunity to share the significance of this moment in time, and the community around Ace Junkyard and Bill Kennedy with the world at large. We cannot wait to celebrate with all of you at our filmโ€™s premiere, coming soonโ€ฆ!

Thanks for all of your support in making this happen.

Happy Dusty Times!
